Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp allayed some fears regarding the participation of two players.
Jordan Henderson didn’t feature in our win over Genk in midweek while Virgil van Dijk wasn’t involved in training recently.
The Reds need to be at full strength as we face Manchester City at the weekend. We hold a six-point lead over the Cityzens and a win will extend that to nine.
Klopp was speaking to the press before the clash and revealed that Van Dijk and Henderson are fine. However, our manager added that Joel Matip and Xherdan Shaqiri are still out with injuries. Paul Gorst of the Liverpool Echo tweeted the press conference:
This is our final game before the international break and we can land another blow to City in the title race. However, we have to be wary of the threat they possess and be at our best.
Van Dijk and Henderson should give us a bit of a boost and hopefully, we put out our strongest team on Sunday. The last time we faced City in the league, we lost 2-1 after a magical goal-line clearance.
Pep Guardiola’s side could have won the corresponding fixture in the previous season. However, Riyad Mahrez missed a penalty late in the game and we escaped with a draw.
