Genk executive confirms Liverpool are following midfielder Sander Berge
Genk’s director of football Dimitri De Conde has claimed that Liverpool are tracking Sander Berge.
The Norwegian has faced us twice in the Champions League this season, and Jurgen Klopp also spoke with the midfielder recently (h/t Express).
Conde was speaking to Radio Punto Nouvo and revealed there was interest from an Italian side too (h/t Express):
“Napoli are interested in Sander and it’s is a possibility.
“We also know Liverpool follow him carefully. Klopp spoke to the boy after the Anfield game, congratulating him on the performance.”
The Genk executive also spoke about the club’s plans and didn’t rule out an exit for Berge:
“Our intention is to hold on to Sander until the end of the season, but we can’t make any predictions.
“If the big clubs come knocking at our door, we will have to start negotiations, just as the agent has to do.”
Conde confirmed that the club would sit down to talk if top clubs came in with a serious offer.
Not setting a price for Berge
The 21-year-old midfielder has featured in 20 games for Genk this season, and the executive didn’t want to slap a price-tag on him.
It will be interesting to see what Genk’s plans for the 21-year-old. Berge will have to take the next step to continue his development, and a move to a top club will ensure that.
