Liverpool keeping tabs on Trabzonspor keeper Ugurcan Cakir
Ugurcan Cakir’s agent has claimed that Liverpool are keen a close eye on his client.
The 23-year-old Trabzonspor goalkeeper has featured in 14 games for the Turkish giants this season.
Cakir has also played for Turkey recently and helped them to a 2-0 win over Andorra recently.
The Mirror claims that Liverpool scouted the keeper earlier in the season and were left impressed.
Engin Kirkpinar, Cakir’s agent, has suggested that there is interest from four Premier League clubs including Liverpool.
Kirkpinar was speaking to Turkish-football.com and claimed the player would not be sold in January (h/t Mirror):
“Liverpool are one of four English sides keeping close tabs on Ugurcan,
“Liverpool are among the sides interested in Cakir, and they have been monitoring his progress.
“Trabzonspor value Cakir as being worth a minimum £18m, and will not sell him in January.”
However, the agent confirmed that a move at the end of the season is possible.
Reds in search for Alisson’s back-up
Liverpool sold Simon Mignolet in the summer and replaced him with Adrian. The Spaniard did a great job while Alisson was injured, but the Reds are searching for a long-term back-up for the Brazilian (h/t Mirror).
Adrian could continue doing the job for a couple of years but he is already 32 and doesn’t have a lot of time at the top level.
It will be interesting to see if Cakir is open to leaving a No.1 spot for that of a back-up.
