Liverpool fans expect big impact from the returning Xherdan Shaqiri
Xherdan Shaqiri returned to Liverpool training recently after missing a couple of months for the Reds.
The 28-year-old only featured in three games for us this season, with all of them being substitute appearances.
Shaqiri last played for us in the 2-0 loss to Napoli and has had injury problems ever since.
The Swiss star played some crucial minutes for us in the previous campaign and helped us beat Barcelona 4-0 in the Champions League semi-final second leg.
Shaqiri could be useful in the coming weeks as we have some big games coming up, and he posted an image of him training at Melwood.
Liverpool need Shaqiri
Even if we weren’t playing in the Club World Cup, Shaqiri would have been needed in this campaign.
The Swiss star provides cover to Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane, and can also play as an attacking midfielder.
Salah has missed some games with an injury this season and didn’t play during the international break too.
Jurgen Klopp might have to rotate his side around, and it will be interesting to see if Shaq gets a chance in the coming weeks.
The Reds face Crystal Palace on Saturday before an important Champions League clash against Napoli.
Liverpool are set to play once every three/four days for the next two months, and Shaqiri should get some starts too.
Hopefully, the Swiss attacker remains injury-free when we need him the most.
Many Liverpool fans were excited seeing Shaq’s return and some predicted he would make a huge impact for the Reds.
