“It is still painful” – Liverpool star confirms playing with injury after win over Crystal Palace

Andy Robertson confirms playing with injury at Palace and provides Mohamed Salah update

Liverpool continued their unbeaten start to the Premier League after defeating Crystal Palace 2-1.

The home side made things tough for us, and we had to dig deep to win the game.

Sadio Mane gave us the lead before Wilfried Zaha scored to make it 1-1. It seemed we would drop points only for the second time this season but Roberto Firmino produced a smart finish to hand us the win.

Mohamed Salah was on the bench as Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain was handed a start.

Andy Robertson and Salah had missed out on the international games due to injuries, and the Scot revealed he has been playing through the pain for us (h/t Liverpool Echo):

“It is still painful but, you know, it is something that I gave time for it to improve.

“Keeping it moving will help it. Hopefully in time it will be better.”

Robbo also claimed that Jurgen Klopp asked about his state and then decided to play him:

“I was desperate to play and the gaffer asked me if I was okay, I believed I was and luckily I got through the game.”

Salah wanted to face Eagles

The Egyptian was stripped off and ready to come on in the final minutes. However, Klopp decided to bring on a defender to seal the points.

Klopp decided to bring Joe Gomez on to seal the win, and Robertson highlighted Salah’s position too:

“Me and Mo (Salah) were in the same position. Mo was desperate to play as well and the manager made the decision and Mo was fine and accepted it.”

Robbo also suggested that it was better to rest for one game rather than miss out on several.

The Scot was also hopeful that Salah would be fit for the Napoli game in midweek.
