Liverpool set to offload this 31-year-old at the end of the season

Liverpool set to offload Adam Lallana at the end of the season

Adam Lallana’s time at Liverpool seems to be coming to an end and he is expected to leave at the end of the season after five seasons at the club.

Reliable journalist James Pearce of the Athletic believes that Liverpool will move on from the 31-year-old Englishman in the summer (h/t Athletic).

It was reported earlier that Liverpool were likely to extend Lallana’s contract (h/t Express

). However, his bad injuries and inability to play consistently appear to have changed the management’s mind about a new deal.
Lallana came on late to rescue a point for Liverpool at Old Trafford in October

This season, Lallana has played 7 times, with his late equalizer at Old Trafford being his only goal. Prior to this, he has played a total of 25 games over the last two seasons in the league without a single goal contribution.

Liverpool’s acquisition of Takumi Minamino (depending on a medical), could push Lallana further down the pecking order and it is in the best interests of everyone that Lallana moves on.

Lallana is Liverpool’s second longest-serving player alongside Dejan Lovren, having joined the club from Southampton in the summer of 2014.

Injuries have prevented Lallana from fulfilling his potential at Liverpool

He has made 166 appearances for Liverpool, scoring 22 goals – including memorable ones like the third against Villareal at Anfield and the winner against Norwich.

Klopp even tried to reinvent him as a No. 6 this season but that has clearly not worked out.

If Lallana can remain injury-free, he would be an asset to any team he ends up signing for.
