Liverpool completed the transfer of Japanese playmaker Takumi Minamino from RB Salzburg for a fee of £7.25million on Thursday (h/t Guardian).
Minamino has become the third player to join Liverpool from the Bundesliga club in the last four years after Sadio Mane and Naby Keita.
The Japanese star is, however, the first transfer that took place directly between both clubs with Mane and Keita joining Liverpool via Southampton and RB Leipzig in 2016 and 2018 respectively.
With the transfer trend seeming to repeat every two years, RB Salzburg posted a light-hearted tweet which went down well with the Liverpool faithful.
Salzburg have been producing a lot of talents in the coming years and if they offer us their best players, we will gladly take them. It is refreshing to see Liverpool and Salzburg have a sense of bonhomie that has extended to the supporters too.
A number of Liverpool fans found the tweet in good taste and took to Twitter to respond to it.
