Twitter reacts as Scholes takes a swipe at Liverpool’s Club World Cup win
Manchester United legend Paul Scholes has downplayed Liverpool‘s victory in the Club World Cup, as the Reds celebrated their first world crown at the fourth attempt. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
Scholes, who won the same trophy back in 2008 with United, claims that they were never desperate to win as Liverpool was.
“Well you want to win it once you’re there but I don’t think it was ever something that we were desperate to win.”
Scholes clarified that he was not joking and went on to add that his victory at a local badminton club meant more to him than Liverpool’s Club World Cup victory. (h/t FOX Sports)
“My badminton trophy!”
In all fairness to him, he is hardly going to be pleased when Liverpool win trophies with United nowhere in sight.
The comments seemed to have no effect on Liverpool, who went on to destroy Leicester City with minimum fuss. The Reds now have a 13 points cushion at the top, with a game in hand.
Scholes’s comments were taken with a pinch of salt with a majority of Liverpool fans who took to Twitter to respond.
