Liverpool journalist Paul Gorst states that the young midfielder is unhappy with the lack of game time afforded to him. It has, however, been termed as just youthful exuberance rather than any sign of him being unhappy.
An academy product, Jones made his Liverpool debut in the FA Cup against Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2019. The 18-year-old has played thrice for Liverpool this season and has impressed when called upon. Jones won the man of the match award in the Carabao Cup win against Milton Keynes Dons.
The midfielder has had moments that would be a part of a highlight reel, and among them is his calmly taken penalty in the front of the Kop to dump out Arsenal in the League Cup. But the moment that will live on in the player’s memory and also in Anfield folklore will be his strike to dump Everton out of the FA Cup.
It is always a special moment for a player to score his first senior goal, but for a local lad to go on and break his duck by scoring the winner in the Merseyside derby must be special.
