Liverpool could make club-record £125million bid for Kai Havertz

According to Mundo Deportivo (h/t Liverpool Echo), Liverpool could be set to make a club-record bid for Bayer Leverkusen midfielder Kai Havertz.

The bid reported being a whopping £125million will easily surpass the £75million paid for Virgil van Dijk in 2018.

Havertz is considered to be one of the hottest young talents in world football. He has so far scored 3 goals and assisted 1 in 21 appearances this season. (h/t Whoscored)

Liverpool were reported to have met with the player’s representatives in December. However, it is believed that Bayern Munich lead the race for the player’s signature. (h/t Express)

The signing of Takumi Mianmino will add to the midfield options available to Klopp with the Japanese playmaker’s versatility allowing him to fill in for multiple positions.

With Adam Lallana looking likely to leave in the summer and the likes of James Milner not getting any older, an infusion of young blood is required sooner rather than later.

Marko Grujic who is currently on loan at Hertha Berlin has the same number of goals and assists as Havertz this season having played four games less. The Serbian’s return in the summer is likely to further enhance Liverpool’s options in midfield.

Havertz is an extremely skilled player who is rightly considered one of the best upcoming talents. It is debatable if Liverpool will spend such a huge amount on a player who is not a sure-shot to start in a first choice Reds XI.
