Takumi Minamino not satisfied with start to Liverpool career

The Japanese playmaker joined the Reds in the January transfer window and has so far failed to replicate the form that marked him out at RB Salzburg.

The 25-year-old debuted for Liverpool in the FA Cup third-round tie against Merseyside rivals Everton in a 1-0 victory for the Reds. It was an unspectacular but promising performance by the playmaker in what was his first taste of English football.

His baptism of fire was, however, reserved for the trip to the Molineux. With Sadio Mane injured, Jurgen Klopp decided to bring on the Japanese international to partner Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino in the attack.

Minamino struggled in what was Liverpool’s hardest-fought win of the season.

The playmaker sailed through a calf injury at halftime to see out the game. Minamino managed to complete 96 percent of his passes in 57 minutes on the pitch.

The Japanese playmaker started Liverpool’s 2-2 draw against Shrewsbury and once again was not lacking for effort. It goes without saying that it will take him some time to get used to the English game.

Fabinho and Andy Robertson initially struggled to make their mark felt in the Liverpool squad. They have now grown to be indispensable elements of a Reds juggernaut on course for our first league title in 30 years.

We hope that Minamino too will showcase the same results and repay the manager’s faith in him. If his attitude is anything to go by, he is already doing so.
