The incident has sparked off comparisons to when the Manchester City bus was attacked outside Anfield. The attack took place prior to the Champions League quarter-finals first leg which Liverpool win 3-0.

Much was made of the incident, with City fans and players crying foul. It was a condemnable act and nothing of the sort has been repeated by the Reds fans since.

This incident, however, came as a complete surprise considering Liverpool’s lack of comments prior to the report (h/t Standard).

Liverpool fans took to Twitter to express their views on the matter. Many of them chose to focus on the double standards of how this incident has been perceived with respect to the incident outside Anfield.
