Not only are Liverpool winning on the pitch but the off-field developments continue to thrill. The Reds will hope to begin the redevelopment of the Anfield Road End by the end of this year. If all goes to plan, the stand should be ready by the summer of 2022. (h/t The Guardian
)The second round of consultations to iron out the issues of the original plan began on Wednesday. Provided everything goes according to schedule, the club will submit the planning permission before commencing work by the end of the year.
The first round of consultations received an overwhelming 93 per cent support. The major concern against it was the proposed permanent closure of the Anfield Road. The club has, however, proposed rerouting the road rather than closing it down.
The rebuild of the Anfield Road stand will add an extra 5,200 general admission seats and 1,800 for hospitality. This will take the ground’s capacity to around 61,000, leapfrogging Arsenal and Manchester City in terms of stadium capacity. (h/t Statista)
Liverpool plan to keep the stand open for the entirety of the project in order to avoid any loss of matchday revenue.
