Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool will match their own club record for successive wins in the league if they defeat Norwich City today.
The Reds have currently won 16 games in a row. A victory at Carrow road will equal the record of 17 set by Klopp’s side from March to October last year.
The victory will also take them to one win behind Manchester City’s English Premier League record of 18 consecutive wins
. The Citizens set this record from August to December 2017 on the way to an incredible 100 points.Incredibly this is the second time that Liverpool could reach this milestone this season. The Reds got off to a flier this season winning their first eight games, this coupled with the nine wins towards the end of the season could have taken the team’s tally to 17 at Old Trafford.
Unfortunately, it was not to be as a spirited United side held us to a 1-1 draw. Adam Lallana equalized for Liverpool that night after Marcus Rashford had given United the lead.
The Merseysiders did not let the result get to them and continued from where they left off. Liverpool have since that night in Manchester won all their Premier League games to this point.
With a run of games against four of the bottom five up next, the Reds have a real opportunity to not only equal their own record but also go on and beat City’s.
Liverpool are also unbeaten in 42 league games. They share this tally with Brian Clough’s Nottingham Forest side from the 1970s. The Reds are seven short of matching the record of 49 games unbeaten set by Arsenal from 2003-2004.
A win at Carrow road will ensure that Liverpool requires just 15 more points to secure the English Premier League, the club’s first league title in 30 years.
Liverpool won the reverse fixture 4-1 at Anfield on the opening day of the season. Virgil van Dijk, Mohamed Salah and Divock Origi were the scorers on that night.
