Liverpool intensify interest in Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell

Liverpool have intensified their interest in Norwich City midfielder Todd Cantwell. The 21-year-old impressed as the Canaries made the Reds dig deep to win all three points at Carrow Road.

Todd Cantwell has been exceptional for Norwich City

Cantwell spent the 2017-18 season on loan at Dutch Second Division side Fortuna Sittard before establishing himself at Carrow Road the next season. The attacking midfielder has scored six goals and two assists so far in his debut season in the Premier League. His contribution is only second to striker Teemu Pukki with 11 goals and three assists.

The youngster has also drawn attention from Manchester United. The Red Devils are keen on a double swoop for Cantwell and his teammate Max Aarons. (h/t Daily Mail)

The likes of Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum will be 30 this year. With James Milner also set to retire in the coming years, Liverpool will need to start adding young blood to the midfield. Liverpool do have a lack of options capable of playing out wide and Cantwell can be an excellent replacement for the outgoing Adam Lallana.

His versatility to play on either flank should be an added bonus to Jurgen Klopp is his ability to deploy the 21-year-old.

The likes of Jack Grealish and James Maddison have impressed in the league but will not come cheap. With Norwich City likely to go down, Liverpool could make a beeline for Cantwell.

The player is valued at £30 million, making him a much more acquirable proposition than Grealish or Maddison.
