Liverpool deny interest in Real Madrid’s chief scout Juni Calafat
Liverpool have dismissed reports linking them to Real Madrid chief scout Juni Calafat. The club have not considered signing the scout nor will they in the future, according to Liverpool Echo.
The Reds could not be happier with the recruitment team already at the club. Led by Sporting Director Michael Edwards, Liverpool have secured the signings of a number of top players over the last few seasons.
The report goes on to claim that although Calafat has brought int he likes of Vinicius Junior, Eder Militao and Reinier Jesus to the Bernabeu, there is nothing to suggest that he is better than anyone that the Reds already have at their disposal.
Why fix what isn’t broken?
Liverpool under Edwards have both brought and sold well in the transfer market in the past few windows. Players such as Andy Robertson have proved to be bargains while big hitters such as Alisson Becker and Virgil van Dijk are today the best in the world in their positions.
The Reds have also sold well, with the likes of Dominic Solanke and Danny Ings being sold for £17million and £20million respectively. Not only did the club receive a healthy transfer fee but also made a substantial profit on two players who were not considered critical for the first-team.
Recently, Liverpool also brought in Japanese attacker Takumi Minamino for a measly £7.25million after becoming aware of the player’s low release clause.
