Twitter reacts as fans gun for Naby Keita after Jordan Henderson injury
Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson has been ruled out for three weeks with a hamstring injury. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
The 29-year-old sustained the injury in the 1-0 loss to Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. The severity of the injury was not immediately clear as the player limped off to be replaced by James Milner. Henderson underwent a scan today morning, which revealed the extent of his condition.
Speaking to the press prior to the match against West Ham United, Jurgen Klopp admitted that the injury could have been worse.
The German compared the injury sustained by Harry Kane and thanked his lucky stars that Henderson isn’t so severe. He went on to confirm that the player will indeed be out for up to three weeks.
“He will be out for three weeks or so which is not cool but we still see it as lucky.
The skipper has been in excellent form of late and has also been in the conversation for the PFA player of the year award. Thankfully for Klopp, the return of Fabinho and James Milner should provide him with enough options in the Englishman’s absence.
Klopp went on to confirm that all the other players are fit and he will make the call as to who will start against West Ham. Henderson is expected to miss the Premier League games against West Ham United, Watford and Bournemouth apart from the FA Cup clash against Chelsea.
Liverpool will hope that he recovers in time for the second leg against Atletico Madrid on 11th March. Many fans took to Twitter to express their backing for Naby Keita to be given an extended run of games in Henderson’s absence. We take a look at some of them below.

Huge blow to have the captain out, but this gives Klopp no excuse not to start Naby Keita on Monday, and potentially against Atléti in the second leg. Ox should also be an option. https://t.co/aS4cqfQcuW
