Bayern keen on signing Roberto Firmino in the summer

Liverpool striker Roberto Firmino has been approached by Bayern Munich over a proposed transfer in the summer transfer window, according to pundit Ian Mcgarry (h/t Daily Mail).

The 28-year-old has established himself as one of Liverpool’s best players under Jurgen Klopp. No other Reds player has featured more than the  Brazilian since the German took over in 2015.

Firmino has scored eight goals and seven assists this season as Liverpool inch closer to their first league title in thirty years. He also famously scored the winner against Flamengo as the Reds clinched their first World Club Cup last December.

German striker Timo Werner has been continually linked with the Reds. With a player of the 23-year-old’s calibre possibly set to join, it could lead to the sale of one of the vaunted front three already at the club.

Opportunism to strike early?

Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich have made use of this opportunity to sound out their interest in the Liverpool marksman.

According to a podcast by pundit Ian Mcgarry (h/t Daily Mail), Bayern’s representatives have reached out to the player’s entourage in the last 10 days. The Germans are curious to know if the player is keen on making the switch to Munich.

Bayern are keen on rebuilding their squad and have identified Firmino as one of the key additions. They see him as a replacement for the 31-year-old Robert Lewandowski, who could be on his way to the MLS this summer.

Jurgen Klopp had claimed in an earlier interview that there will be no big names leaving the club this summer. It was also indicated that even if Timo Werner comes in, he will have to settle for a place on the bench before he can break into the first-team.

Firmino already has the experience of playing in the Bundesliga. He spent four years at Hoffenheim, garnering 49 goals and 36 assists in 153 appearances. However, it will be a huge surprise if the Brazilian decides to quit Anfield.
