Liverpool interested in Gent striker Jonathan David
Liverpool are one of several clubs keen on Gent forward Jonathan David, according to Express.
The Canadian has 18 goals from 25 games in the Belgian top division this season and has attracted the interest of several other parties.
The report claims that Chelsea sent a scout to watch the 20-year-old in action against Roma. Manchester United, Leicester City and Tottenham are the others who have watched him play (h/t Express).
Nick Mavromaras, David’s agent, also spoke about his client moving to a bigger club in the future (h/t Express):
“I understand that they would like to keep him longer, but Jonathan wants to go ahead. The Belgian league is fantastic for young players, but the moment for the next step arrives and this will come in the summer.”
The agent also put off hopes of David joining a top club and said that a move to a mid-table club has to be the option for now.
Liverpool to sign a forward in the summer?
The Reds expected Rhian Brewster to be the next big thing but the youngster is away on loan at Swansea.
Liverpool don’t have proper cover for Roberto Firmino, apart from Divock Origi. However, the Belgian has been played wide quite often.
