West Ham vice-chairman clarifies her comments on PL suspension which affects Liverpool

West Ham vice-chairman Karen Brady believes Liverpool deserve the title

According to the Mirror, West Ham United vice-chairman Karren Brady has tried to explain her call for the Premier League to be declared null and void in light of the coronavirus pandemic.

The Premier League has been suspended until April 3 and the future remains uncertain at this point of time. Brady ‘s comments on the matter led to much debate, with a number of fans criticizing her for her views on the matter.

It can be argued that West Ham being in threat of relegation will have played a role in her comments as the Hammers are right in the mix to go down with just nine games left.

Liverpool are 25 points clear of the chasing pack and are just six points away from securing the title. Having put in an extraordinary set of performances all season, Reds fans were irked by the Hammers executive’s comments.

Following the backlash, she has attempted to rectify her comments on Twitter. She tweeted that everyone agrees Liverpool should win the title this season.

She went on to add that both the Premier League and the EFL are doing everything they can to ensure that the season is finished. Brady went on to add that options such as playing behind closed doors and in the summer are something that can be explored.

The 50-year-old declared that her comments were made taking into account the health of the players, staff and the fans. Brady then went on to repeat that if no other solution can be found, then the season should be declared null and void.

West Ham United are out of the bottom three on goal difference and have not shown enough to suggest they can keep relegation at bay. Voiding the league is sure to benefit some teams more than others, with West Ham being one of them.
