Liverpool need to stump up £45million for Bundesliga ace Denis Zakaria

Liverpool are keeping tabs on Borussia Monchengladbach’s Denis Zakaria, according to SportBild (h/t Metro).

The 23-year-old has featured regularly for the Bundesliga side and helped them to fourth place in the league. Zakaria predominantly plays as a defensive midfielder but can do the job a little further up the field too.

The Swiss international has caught the attention of several top clubs too, including one of our major rivals (h/t Metro).

Manchester United have also tracked the Swiss star while Bayern Munich are also keen on the services of the midfielder (h/t Metro).

The report claims that Liverpool are also in the running to land Zakaria and have courted the star too.

Zakaria won’t come on the cheap

The Swiss international is one of the best players at Monchengladbach but won’t come on the cheap. Liverpool would have to pay at least £45million to land the Swiss ace but it won’t be easy to pry him away.

Zakaria could decide to stick around at Monchengladbach and has a contract with the Bundesliga side till 2022.

We could use another midfielder coming into the team next season, especially given that Adam Lallana is a free agent at the end of this campaign.

James Milner isn’t getting any younger while Naby Keita has had his injury problems ever since he signed from RB Leipzig.

Jordan Henderson, Georginio Wijnaldum and Fabinho seem to be our first-choice midfield trio, but we need cover for them.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has also chipped in well, but the Englishman still needs more game time to overcome his knee injury from a couple of years back. Zakaria could do a good job in this Liverpool team, and it will be interesting to see if we press ahead with a move.

The Reds were a little conservative with their spending at the start of the campaign. However, our plans could be different at the start of the next season.
