Petit claims current Liverpool side are more impressive than Arsenal’s ‘Invincibles’

Arsenal pulled off an incredible feat in 2003/04, as they went the entire season unbeaten on their way to lifting the Premier League title. And that side, managed by Arsene Wenger, will go down as one of the best teams in history.

However, former Arsenal star Petit has opined that the current Liverpool side, who have dominated the season, are more impressive. Speaking to the Mirror, the Frenchman said:

“I have huge respect for my old team-mates, but when I look at Liverpool, and what they have been doing for the past two years. They have impressed me more than Arsenal’s Invincibles.

“They were both great teams in history, but for me this Liverpool team have something special. It is hard to explain what I feel when I look at Liverpool, but I don’t remember thinking the same way when I was looking at the Invincibiles.”

Liverpool have been absolutely dominant this season, opening up a 25-point lead on closest challengers and reigning champions Manchester City. Jurgen Klopp’s brigade seemed set for an undefeated campaign themselves, having not lost a game until February but a 3-0 defeat to Watford put an end to our hopes of an ‘invincible’ season.

Still, it has been an extremely special season for Liverpool. Our team needs just two more wins to lift the title. But with the season currently suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic, the wait continues for our first-ever Premier League triumph.
