Emile Heskey backs Jurgen Klopp to remain at Anfield

According to Genintbet (h/t Daily Mail), former Liverpool star Emile Heskey has backed Reds boss Jurgen Klopp to stay put at Anfield even if there is interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona.

Already one of the world’s best managers at Dortmund, Liverpool securing the charismatic German to replace Brendan Rodgers in 2015 was nothing short of a coup.

Klopp has only seen his stock rise after rebuilding the Reds into one of Europe’s most formidable teams. Liverpool have played in three European finals under the German and are the defending European and World Champions.

Following the success, Heskey believes the Reds boss has unfinished business at Anfield and will stick around to finish his project.

“But I don’t think that Klopp is finished with the project that he has started at Liverpool”

A dynasty in the making?

Liverpool are on the rise both on and off the field. The Reds have a new state of the art training complex coming in Kirkby and are also keen to further expand Anfield.

Klopp has had a fair say in the design and outlay of the Kirkby base and it shows his long-term commitment to the future of the club. It was he who wanted to bridge the gap between the first-team and the academy. With the new facility, he seems to have got just that.

Heskey believes Klopp has done brilliantly to put the Reds back on the footballing map. He went on to add that fans will not have to fear about losing the German who seems to have taken a shine to Merseyside.

“Klopp has really put them on the map there. I think Klopp still feels like he has a lot to do.”

Klopp recently signed a contract extension to keep him at the club until 2024. If he does complete his term here, it will be the longest he has managed at one single club. The German previously managed At Mainz and Borussia Dortmund for seven years each before moving on.

The German has taken Liverpool to the top of the league where we currently enjoy a 25-point lead. The Reds need just six more points to guarantee the Premier League title.

If Liverpool does go on to win the league, Klopp will become just the third manager in Liverpool history alongside Bob Paisley and Joe Fagan to win both the European Cup and the English First Division.
