Chris Sutton backs Harry Kane to joins Liverpool or Manchester City
Former Blackburn Rovers star Chris Sutton has stated that Tottenham Hotspur ace Harry Kane will be stupid not to move to Liverpool or Manchester City.
According to BBC Radio Live 5 (h/t Metro), Sutton believes that in spite of Spurs’ progression in the past few years, they are considerably behind both the Reds and the Citizens when it comes to competing for major honours.
“Spurs are a brilliant club, but at this moment in time they are way behind the likes of Liverpool and Manchester City.”
The England captain speaking to former Liverpool skipper Jamie Redknapp in an Instagram Q and A refused to rule out an exit from North London. Having come through the youth ranks at Spurs, Kane is yet to win a single trophy despite his individual brilliance.
Kane is currently linked with a move to Manchester United. Sutton believes that the striker will have no choice but to move to Liverpool or City to further his career.
The 26-year-old had revealed to Redknapp that he hopes to win the Premier League one day. In the current circumstances, it is difficult seeing him do that at Spurs. Sutton’s statements make sense considering the duo he has recommended are the teams best placed to compete for the title today.
“He should move on and go to a club who have better chance of winning it than Spurs do.”
Plan B
It is hard to see where the player could fit in at Liverpool. More of a focal point in attack rather than a roving one, Kane’s style does not appear to suit Jurgen Klopp’s preferred system.
However, he could very well be the answer to our requirement of a plan B. An infallible scorer, he is sure to be amongst the goals and will be an excellent asset to have as we look to further improve our side. Kane is currently third in Tottenham’s all-time scorers’ list and has led the club’s scoring charts the last five seasons.
