Liverpool have been keeping tabs on Leeds United defender Ben White

Speaking on the Sky Sports EFL Podcast (h/t Yorkshire Evening Post), Sky Sports commentator Gary Weaver has revealed that Liverpool are keeping tabs on Leeds United defender Ben White.

The 22-year-old, who is at Leeds on loan from Brighton and Hove Albion, has enjoyed a fruitful season. The youngster has slotted well into Marcelo Bielsa’s plans and has ensured that the team did not miss Swedish international Pontus Jansson who left the club last summer.

White has played every minute of every Championship game this season and is a key member of the Leeds side that is leading the Championship table. His performances have not gone unnoticed, with Liverpool watching the player’s every move.

Weaver revealed that Liverpool scout Andy O’Brien has watched almost every game of Ben White this season. The revelation that we have been keeping a constant eye on the player shows that the club does indeed rate the youngster’s talents.

With the former’s future currently up in the air, a slot could be opened up in the Liverpool squad. If Lovren does indeed leave, White would not be a bad shout to come in as a backup defender. His performance away at Stoke showcased everything great about him. He put up what was widely considered to be one of the best performances by a Leeds defender in recent times.
