Liverpool face Southampton threat in Milot Rashica pursuit
According to Sport Bild (h/t Daily Star), Liverpool will face competition from Premier League rivals Southampton for Werder Bremen attacker Milot Rashica.
His performances have also drawn interest closer from home with RB Leipzig also keen. Bremen are in need of funds and could be forced to sell their prized possession in the upcoming transfer window.
The interest from Julian Nagelsmann’s side is interesting considering the news linking Timo Werner to Liverpool.
Rashica has a release clause worth £33million, which is set to expire on June 15. However, we could steal him for a paltry £16million if Bremen get relegated. With the German side currently sitting second from bottom, four points from safety, the threat of relegation looms large.
Primarily a left-winger, Rashica is a versatile attacker who can also play up front as a centre-forward or second striker. This versatility should be an added bonus to the Liverpool attack that is fluid at best. The winger has a low centre of gravity and has a knack of opening up defences with his close control and dribbling skills.
Interest from Liverpool appears to be well known, with Agim Ademi, president of Kosovo’s Football Federation, also confirming the club’s interest.
A step too far?
Members of the player’s entourage are concerned that a move to Liverpool could prove to be a step too big for the player at this moment in time. It is difficult to see the player replace the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah in the starting XI.
He will have to settle for a spot on the bench at least until an opportunity presents itself. With the Liverpool duo likely to be away at the African Cup of Nations next season, Rashica could find himself playing a lot.
