Liverpool set to offer Sadio Mane a new bumper contract

Liverpool are set to offer a new long-term contract to star attacker Sadio Mane according to a report from Football Insider (h/t Liverpool Echo).

Mane joined our club in the summer of 2016 from Southampton in a £34m deal. He has since grown into one of the best forwards in the game during this time. The 28-year-old has accumulated 161 appearances for our club till date, bagging 77 goals and setting up 34 more.

The Senegalese speedster was key in the Reds’ Champions League triumph last season and also won the Premier League Golden Boot along with Mo Salah and Arsenal’s Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. Mane has been brilliant in the 2019/20 campaign as well, already scoring 18 goals and assisting 12 in 38 matches in all competitions.

Naturally, Mane’s performances have led to interest from Spanish giants Real Madrid, with manager Zinedine Zidane being a huge admirer of our star attacker.

However, Liverpool are already working towards securing the 28-year-old’s long-term future at the club by offering him a new bumper contract (h/t Liverpool Echo).

Mane’s current £150,000-a-week contract, that he signed in November 2018, will expire in the summer of 2023, by which time he will be 31. And Liverpool are hoping to extend it beyond that, in order to ensure that he spends the remainder of his career at Anfield.
