Liverpool to make a strong push for Brazilian wonderkid Talles Magno

According to Spanish publication AS (h/t Daily Star), Liverpool have joined the race to sign Brazilian wonderkid Talles Magno.

The 17-year-old has caught the eye of a number of European giants with his performances for Brazilian side Vasco da Gama. Our biggest competitors are Portuguese giants Benfica, who have already made an offer of £2.6million to gain priority over the signing. The Eagles are keen to see off competition for the youngster.

As an added threat, they are also ready to match any bid received for the player until this December.

According to the report, Liverpool have taken an aggressive approach and are keen to beat the Portuguese to the player.

Although the player has a release clause worth £43million, he is likely to cost around £21million. The quoted fee would be appealing to the Reds.

Benfica have enjoyed excellent success in discovering young talents in recent years. The fact that they are keen not to lose out on Magno shows the high regard he is held at the Estadio da Luz.

A youth revolution?

Liverpool too have revamped their recruitment of youth talents under Jurgen Klopp. The Reds focussed on bringing in youngsters Harvey Elliott and Sepp van der Berg last summer. The duo joins a number of academy players who are poised to make the next step up at Anfield.

Capable of playing anywhere along the front three, Magno’s versatility will be a perfect fit for the Liverpool system.

The youngster has enjoyed a break out season making 17 appearances for Vasco. Although his contribution of two goals and one assist doesn’t set pulses racing, he has the talent to be nurtured into a world-class player in the future. Magno was a part of the Brazil Under-17 side that won the FIFA World Cup in 2019.

Ligue 1 outfit Lyon and La Liga side Sevilla are also keeping tabs on Magno. (h/t Daily Star)
