Liverpool keeping tabs on RB Leipzig midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai
According to Italian publication Tuttosport (h/t Daily Mail), Liverpool could return to RB Salzburg for 19-year-old Hungarian midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.
The youngster has attracted the attention of a number of Europe’s top guns. The likes of Arsenal, Borussia Dortmund and RB Leipzig are all keen on the player.
If it does come to pass, it will be the second time in two windows that the Reds have done business with the Austrian giants. Japanese playmaker Takumi Minamino made the move to Anfield in January after impressing against us in the UEFA Champions League group stages.
Capable of playing anywhere in midfield, the versatile Hungarian has been a regular for the Austrians this season. He has scored four goals and seven assists in 29 appearances so far.
The Reds have had a first-hand measure of his capabilities, having faced the Austrians in the Champions League this season. Szoboszlai lasted 71 minutes in the thriller at Anfield while playing the whole 90 minutes in the reverse fixture.
Although he failed to score or assist in either game, he showed enough to suggest that he is a player worth keeping an eye on. With two more years left to go on his current contract, he is valued at £26m.
The 19-year-old has also won eight caps for the Hungarian national team, scoring once in the process. The Liverpool midfield is an area that will need an infusion of young blood in the coming years.
The likes of Jordan Henderson and Gini Wijnaldum are entering their 30s while James Milner is not getting any younger.

Liverpool have a number of former RB Salzburg players in their squad. Sadio Mane and Naby Keita burst onto the scene at the Austrian side before eventually ending up on Merseyside. The ranks were further bolstered when Minamino joined the club in January.
Szoboszlai is a player worth watching and it remains to be seen if the Reds eventually make a move.
