Liverpool linked with Denis Zakaria and Marcus Thuram

According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have been linked with summer moves for Borussia Monchengladbach duo Denis Zakaria and Marcus Thuram.

Zakaria, a defensive midfielder, has been a standout performer for Gladbach this season. The Switzerland international has featured in 31 matches in all competitions this term, scoring and assisting two goals apiece.

His performances have led to interest from a number of clubs in Europe, including our club as well as our rivals Manchester United.

Marcus Thuram is another player that Liverpool are keeping an eye out on. The 22-year-old Frenchman has also been a top performer for the Bundesliga outfit this season. In 34 matches across all competitions, the versatile forward has come up with a return of 11 goals and 9 assists.

The Bundesliga became the first of the top-five European leagues to return to action this past weekend. Borussia Monchengladbach made a winning start to the resumed campaign, with a 3-1 triumph against Eintracht Frankfurt on Saturday.

Zakaria, though, missed the game with a knee injury and is expected to be out of for a few more weeks. Thuram, on the other hand, was at the centre of things for Gladbach, scoring a goal in the match.

Liverpool lack of quality backup for the first-choice attacking trio of Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane. Hence, signing someone like Thuram would serve the club very well in the short and long term.

Zakaria, on the other hand, would be an able competition for Fabinho and with James Milner not getting any younger, the Switzerland international would add more depth and quality to our midfield unit.

Both are attractive options for Liverpool and Jurgen Klopp to consider. But it remains to be seen if the supposed interest turns into a meaningful approach for the duo in the summer window.
