Liverpool make contact with representatives of 22-year-old Championship attacker

Liverpool in contact with representatives of Ismaila Sarr

According to a report from the Watford Observer, Premier League champions Liverpool have made contact with the representatives of Watford winger Ismaila Sarr, as the club explores the possibility of signing the Senegalese.

The 22-year-old Sarr could be sold this summer after the Hornets were relegated from the Premier League. And Liverpool are among the clubs interested in securing his services, along with Wolverhampton Wanderers and Crystal Palace. (h/t Watford Observer)

Ismaila Sarr impressed in his debut PL season

All three clubs are reported to have made contact with the player’s camp with regard to a summer switch. However, the report adds that Liverpool are at the front of the queue to land the winger. This is owing to the fact that Wolves and Palace will only move for Sarr, provided they lose Adama Traore and Wilfried Zaha respectively.

Sarr joined Watford only last summer from French club Rennes, in a deal worth £31m. Even though the campaign ended with relegation for the Hornets, the Senegalese international was one of the few positives for them. He finished the season with a return of six goals and six assists from 28 Premier League games.

One of his best performances in the season gone by came against us, as Watford handed us our first league defeat of the season. Sarr’s full array of abilities were display on that day, as his pace, ability on the ball and finishing would make him an asset for us.

In Sadio Mane, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah, Jurgen Klopp one of the finest attacking units at his disposal. However, the backup options don’t exude the same quality. So, it is imperative that the team adds more quality and firepower to the attack before next season, if we are to sustain our success.

Sarr, to that end, would be a more than handy addition. Watford, though, are likely to want to recoup the £31m they paid to acquire his services last summer. Apart from Liverpool, Wolves and Palace, there are several clubs in Spain and France that are interested in him. (h/t Watford Observer)

So, we will need to act quickly if we are to close the deal for the Senegalese international.
