Liverpool tracking Arsenal striker Folarin Balogun
According to a report from Sky Sports (h/t Mirror), Premier League champions Liverpool are among a host of clubs monitoring the situation of Arsenal youngster Folarin Balogun.
The 19-year-old, a product of the Arsenal youth academy, has been very impressive for the Gunners’ youth sides till date. He featured 41 times for the U18s, scoring 34 goals and creating seven more, before being promoted to the U23s in 2019.
Balogun ended the 2019/20 season with ten goals and four assists from 15 Premier League 2 outings with the reserves. Inspite of his impressive displays, the 19-year-old is yet to make his senior debut for Arsenal.
The teenage forward will be out of contract with Arsenal next summer. And as per the report, the North London outfit are looking to cash in on him this summer. Valued at £8m, Balogun has registered on the radars of Liverpool, among other clubs in England. (h/t Mirror)
While we have one of the best first-choice attacking units in Europe, as far as backup is concerned, there are some concerns. And with Divock Origi being linked with a switch away from Anfield, boosting our attacking unit would be a good step from the club.
In the likes of Curtis Jones, Rhian Brewster and Harvey Elliott, we have some very promising young talent coming through. And adding someone of Balogun’s talent to that group would only serve us better for years to come.

Brentford are also keen on the 19-year-old Balogun, as per the report. However, having missed out on promotion to the Premier League, the Bees might find it difficult to sign him up.
It will be interesting to see if Liverpool’s interest in the youngster does turn into something signifcant in the coming weeks.
