Ismaila Sarr opens up on transfer links to Liverpool

Speaking to Les Echos in Senegal, as reported by the Metro, Watford winger Ismaila Sarr has opened the door to a summer transfer to Liverpool, claiming that everyone would love to play at a club of its stature.

The 22-year-old Sarr has been heavily linked with a transfer to Liverpool in recent weeks. The speculations have only intensified after Watford were relegated from the Premier League towards the end of last month. (h/t Metro)

Sarr, addressing the speculations, claimed that he was aware of the links to Liverpool, but he was leaving all these discussions to his agents. (h/t Metro)

“I admit that there are other agents who talk to me about proposals from important teams, but for the moment, I stay quiet in my corner. I continue my work and the rest, my agent and my team will take care of it. Because whatever happens, you need the backing of the club.”

Quizzed if he would be open to joining Liverpool and link up with Senegalese international teammate Sadio Mane, Sarr said (h/t Metro):

“Liverpool are a really great team, everyone would love to play there. ‘They won the Premier League this year and the Champions League last year.”

Given that we lack quality backup to the likes of Sadio Mane and Mohamed Salah, it is one area that Jurgen Klopp must address in the ongoing window.

Sarr, to that end, would make a fine addition to the squad. At 22, the Senegalese is still young, but has already displayed his talents at this level. He ended the 2019/20 campaign with six goals and assists each across all competitions for the Hornets.

With the transfer of Kostas Tsimikas done, the club should now turn their focus towards getting a deal over the line for Sarr.
