According to the Mirror, Liverpool and Manchester City will gear up to fight it out for the signing of Adama Traore, as Wolves may be forced to sell the Spaniard this summer.
Traore signed for Wolves from Middlesbrough in the summer of 2018, in a deal worth £18m. After a rather underwhelming debut season at the Molineux, the winger burst into life in the 2019/20 campaign, emerging as one of the most dangerous wingers in the Premier League.
The 24-year-old ended the recent season with a return of six goals and twelve assists from 54 matches in all competitions. Traore caught the onlookers eyes with his pace, power and directness, something which will fit in very well into the scheme of things at Anfield.
Liverpool have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old for a while now. And it is being claimed that Wolves might be forced to sell him this summer, with the club not in a strong position financially. Manager Nuno Espirito Santo has been told that he will need to sell players, before bringing in new ones. (h/t Mirror
)This has opened up a window for Liverpool to make a swoop for the Spaniard. However, the Premier League champions will have to stave off competition from arch rivals Manchester City. (h/t Mirror)
In Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino, we have one of the most dangerous attacking units in the Premier League. However, beyond the trio, there is a distinct lack of quality to provide cover. And with the likes of Xherdan Shaqiri and Divock Origi being linked with exits, strengthening the attack should be a priority for Jurgen Klopp.
Traore, to that end, would be a fine signing. However, his asking price might prove to be a problem this summer, with the club reluctant to spend big.
