Antoine Griezmann dismisses Barcelona exit speculations
Speaking in an interview with M6 (via Marca h/t Mirror), Barcelona star Antoine Griezmann has dismissed speculations of an exit from Camp Nou, amid Liverpool links.
A report from the Daily Mail claimed that Liverpool, along with other top Premier League clubs like Manchester United and Arsenal , had been put on high alert over the potential availabilty of Griezmann.
It was claimed that new manager Ronald Koeman had promised Griezmann the spearhead role once Lionel Messi had left the club. However, with the Argentine staying put at the club, the 2018 World Cup winner’s place had become vulnerable, with the Catalans looking to trim the squad. (h/t Daily Mail)
However, Griezmann has quickly refuted any such claims, insisting that he is happy at the club and is not thinking about an exit at all. (h/t Mirror)
“I don’t know why people are making up other destinations. I’m happy at Barcelona and I know I have the confidence of the club and of the coach. So, I’m good. Last season was a tough season for everyone and now we’re ready to start again.”
Liverpool’s first-choice attacking trident oozes quality, but beyond that there is a clear lack of depth. The likes of Divock Origi and Xherdan Shaqiri don’t always inspire confidence. And signing someone of Griezmann’s ilk would have been amazing for the club.

However, Griezmann has killed the possibility of a transfer away from Barcelona, stating that he is very happy at Camp Nou. Even if he was open to a transfer, a deal could have been a distant possibility considering that we are operating on a restricted budget this summer.
