Liverpool star Marko Grujic set for Werder Bremen loan
According to German publication Bild, as relayed by Goal.com’s Ronan Murphy on Twitter, Liverpool midfielder Marko Grujic could be on his way back to Germany for another loan stint, this time with Werder Bremen.
Grujic signed for Liverpool from Red Star Belgrade in January 2016. He was immediately loaned back to the Serbian outfit till the end of the 2015/16 season. However, having failed to make an impact at Anfield, he was then sent out on loan to Cardiff City in January 2018.
This was followed by back-to-back loan spells at Hertha in the last two seasons. Back at Liverpool after the 2019/20 campaign, Grujic joined his Liverpool teammates in the club’s pre-season training camp in Austria and made a decent impression on manager Jurgen Klopp.
This resulted in him getting a couple of starts in the Carabao Cup this season. And Grujic made quite an impression against Arsenal in the fourth round, even though the Reds were eliminated on penalties.
Irrespective of that, regular first-team opportunities are unlikely to be forthcoming an Anfield for the Serbian given the stockpile of midfielders at Klopp’s disposal. And as per reports in Germany (h/t Ronan Murphy), the Reds’ star is set to join Werder Bremen on a season-long loan deal.

Since joining Liverpool four years ago, Grujic has made just 16 first-team appearances. With still three years left on his contract with the Merseyside outfit, there is still a chance for him to make it at Anfield. Hopefully, the loan stint in Germany proves to be a successful one for the Serbian international.
