Wilfried Zaha has been linked with an exit from Crystal Palace with Liverpool linked
Tony Cascarino was left a little surprised when Liverpool didn’t move for Wilfried Zaha in the summer.
The Ivorian winger has been in exceptional form this season and already has five goals and an assist from six games.
Zaha scored just four times in the league last season and notched up three assists. However, he has started this season on fire.
The 27-year-old has helped Crystal Palace to seventh position in the league standings under Roy Hodgson.
However, Zaha has wanted to leave the London side over the past season or so (h/t Express). Arsenal were one of the clubs keep on landing him (h/t Express) but ended up signing Nicolas Pepe.
Liverpool were also busy in the summer as we signed the impressive Diogo Jota. Cascarino was speaking to TalkSport and claimed that Roy Hodgson had thrown down a challenge to Zaha after he failed to move away this season.
Ready for the Champions League
The pundit went on to say that Zaha was ready for the Champions League too and brought up Liverpool in the discussion (h/t Express):
“I was surprised Liverpool didn’t go in for him but then they went for (Diogo) Jota and got him for £40million and a younger player who has already stepped in.
“I thought Wilf could have played for Liverpool in the way they play.
“I thought he would have been superb in their setup. He gave Trent Alexander-Arnold a real hard game at Palace one afternoon.”
However, Cascarino admitted there was one problem with Zaha and that was his price tag. Palace have put a high asking price for the Ivorian (h/t Express) and he has remained with the London club despite interest from elsewhere.

Zaha is a talent and has done well since his failed move to Manchester United. He is one reason why Palace have survived in the Premier League for so long, and it will be interesting to see if he gets a move away in the future.
