Roberto Firmino is interested in moving to Real Madrid
Spanish reports (h/t Liverpool Echo) claim that Roberto Firmino is keen to join Real Madrid.
The Brazilian was signed by Liverpool from Hoffenheim when Brendan Rodgers was in charge. However, we got to see the best of the attacker under Jurgen Klopp.
Firmino has formed an incredible attacking trident with Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane at Anfield. The Brazilian adds a bit of flair to our attack but the report claims that he wants to join Madrid.
The president of Real Madrid, Florentino Perez, is working on a deal to sign the Brazilian in 2021. Perez wants to make several signings next summer and Firmino is one of his targets (h/t Liverpool Echo).
Liverpool have attacking options
Firmino is extremely important to the way Liverpool operate, but he struggled in front of goal last season.
Granted, the goals came from Salah and Mane but Firmino couldn’t score at home in the Premier League last time around.
The 29-year-old also seems to be out of touch since last season but he opened his account with the equaliser against Sheffield United at the weekend.
It will be interesting to see what our plans are for the summer with regards to the attack. Klopp has stuck with Firmino even during the Brazilian’s struggles.
However, Liverpool have a couple of stars who can take up his role. Takumi Minamino and Diogo Jota have done well in their few outings this season.
Jota has been extremely busy upfront and already has a couple of Premier League goals to his name. The former Wolves star scored the winner against Sheffield at the weekend, and Klopp can use him as the striker in our front three.
