More injury trouble for Klopp as Henderson latest to be ruled out for the weekend

A report by The Times (h/t Liverpool Echo) claims that Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson will miss the Premier League game against Leicester City due to an injury. The skipper is set to sit out of the game against the current league leaders after a groin injury he picked up during national duty.

Henderson is the latest in line to be ruled out of the fixture against Leicester City on the weekend. Liverpool are already without Virgil van Dijk, Joe Gomez, Mohamed Salah, and Trent Alexander-Arnold while Fabinho and Andy Robertson remain a doubt.

The Liverpool captain picked up a groin injury in England’s 2-0 defeat to Belgium in the UEFA Nations League group stage. The club were hopeful that Henderson would recover in time to feature against unlikely title contenders Leicester City, but that has not turned out to be the case. (h/t Liverpool Echo)

The injury to Henderson means we could see Naby Keita, Gini Wijnaldum, and Curtis Jones start in midfield. Fabinho and James Milner may feature in defence considering our backline has been plagued by injuries.

Leicester City are at the top of the table, just one point ahead of Klopp’s Liverpool. The Foxes have won their last 3 league games and have looked in good nick.

The last time we lost to Leicester City was over 3 years ago, but that is not the only record on the line. The Reds are on a 63-game unbeaten home run, equalling the club record with the win against West Ham. We need to avoid defeat in our next 24 matches at Anfield to surpass Chelsea’s record of 86.

The Reds will not have their fans to count on as Leicester City would be looking to put the two streaks to an end. Without our entire first-choice backline, top scorer, and now club captain Jordan Henderson, the Reds will be up against the wall right from kick-off.

But if we have learned anything during Klopp’s time, it is to never rule out this team no matter what the circumstances are.
