The Reds have shown interest in Kylian Mbappe amidst his admiration for Klopp’s Liverpool
A report by Spanish outlet Sport (h/t Mirror) claims that Liverpool have a direct line of communication with PSG superstar Kylian Mbappe. Real Madrid have kept tabs on the French forward but have been told by PSG to pay north of £100million.
However, no offer is imminent, with clubs feeling the financial effects of the pandemic. (h/t Mirror)
Liverpool have been linked with Mbappe in the past, with the striker not hiding his veneration for Jurgen Klopp and the club when the Reds were unbeaten in the Premier League last season.
“They’re like a machine, they’ve found a rhythm and are like ‘we play again, we play again’. They’ve lost zero games. When you watch you think everything’s easy but that’s not easy. The guys are focused, they play games every three days and they win, they win, they win.”
Mbappe is one of the brightest prospects in world football. The 2018 FIFA World Cup winner has already scored 128 senior goals at the age of just 21. Hence, it is no surprise that Liverpool are interested in his services despite the bloated transfer fee valuation by PSG.
The Frenchman even went on to add a compliment for Klopp while he thanked PSG and the French national team for his success.
“Now the problem is that everybody watches Liverpool, and everybody watches what we can do against them. So now they have to show they are strong again but it’s a very good team with a very good manager.”
“I think about the club (PSG) because the club helped me. I came here at 18, I was a talent but I was not a superstar. Now I’m a superstar, thanks to PSG and the French national team.”
While Mbappe claims he is focused on PSG, his stay at the club may be short-lived. Real Madrid would want to replace the void left by Cristian Ronaldo at the club, but with Mane and Salah both turning 29 next season, the two 2019 UEFA Champions League finalists may lock horns with each other for signing the youngster.
If we do manage to get Mbappe, it could become the most high-profile signing in the club’s recent history. Despite the busy summer which saw us spend on Diogo Jota, Kostas Tsimikas, and Thiago, Mbappe is the one player that may be worth breaking the bank for, even if it is in a few years’ time.
