Ben White could solve the injury crisis at Liverpool amidst transfer rumours
According to Liverpool Echo, Brighton centre-back Ben White could be the answer to Jurgen Klopp’s problems as the defender continues to be linked with Liverpool.
The 23-year-old centre-back lined-up against Liverpool this Saturday in a controversial 1-1 draw at The Amex as the Reds saw a harsh penalty awarded to the Seagulls through the use of VAR in the closing stages of the game.
Liverpool have admired Ben White for months and were tracking him throughout his season-long loan at Leeds United last year. The centre-back also ticks a lot of boxes when it comes to being an ideal centre-back for Jurgen Klopp. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
Liverpool have been plagued with injuries this season and will have to do with Joel Matip, Fabinho and a combination of inexperienced youngsters at centre-back until Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk return from their injuries.
This has lead to the transfer rumour mill spinning incessantly over the past few months. The Reds have been linked with a host of centre-backs, and Ben White is one of them. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
The young English centre-back is said to possess a ‘modern skill-set’ that will allow him to fit in Liverpool’s backline. With good agility, decent passing skills, and ample experience with two current Premier League clubs, White is tipped to fit well into Liverpool’s high-defensive line. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
A number of reports have tipped the Reds to make a move for a centre-back in January, while others believe that Klopp will wait until summer to make his move in the transfer market.
Either way, White would be a gem of a signing for us if we do manage to secure his services in the coming transfer windows. He would not only offer quality depth at the back but may also challenge Joe Gomez for the starting spot in the backline.
