The Ivory Coast ace has been a standout performer for AC Milan amid a problematic phrase for the club. He has played a massive role to make the Rossoneri title contenders for the Scudetto. This season, the 25-year-old has bagged five goals, playing 16 matches in the Italian top flight.

Kessie is entering the final six months of his contract with the Italian club and hasn’t penned down any new deal. Given his recent performances, the Ivorian could cause a transfer battle in the transfer market.

Liverpool have been tracking the situation of Kessie in recent times. It is believed that the Reds have made an ‘interesting offer‘ for the Milan star.

The Guinean national team has called up Liverpool midfielder Naby Keita to feature in the coming AFCON tournament. The 26-year-old would be departing for Cameroon after the 3rd of January. He would miss several vital League and domestic cup matches in the next month, which would create pressure on available players.

This season, Thiago Alcântara has missed several matches due to injury and Covid isolation. The Spaniard is yet to return to the starting lineup.

Amid such a situation, Jordan Henderson has been playing relentlessly in the season. With the departure of Keita, the English player certainly has to feature in most of the games. James Milner and Henderson are ageing, and the hectic schedule could take a toll on their fitness. Therefore, it’d become helpful if someone could take the burden of games from their heads.

It remains to be seen if Reds’ offer does the trick in January as the Merseyside team could have used fresh legs during January. Kessie undoubtedly could play the leading role in midfield as he has played for Milan over the years. With his arrival, the workload would be distributed, and Jurgen Klopp would get a crucial player who he can trust in big games.
