Liverpool to use Takumi Minamino in a player-plus-cash transfer for Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos
A report by Spanish outlet La Razon (h/t Daily Mail) mentions that Liverpool are interested in signing Sevilla winger Lucas Ocampos in a bid to refresh their team in the summer.
The Reds have looked off the pace in recent months and are 6th in the Premier League table. The title hopes have gone up in flames and it looks like we are in for a top-4 race.
And Jurgen Klopp has identified the 26-year-old winger to add pace and depth to his attack. Ocampos is said to have a £56million release clause in his contract with the Spanish side.
However, Liverpool are willing to offer out-of-favour Japanese forward Takumi Minamino in a cash-plus-player deal. The club would still have to pay a decent amount of cash to meet the Argentine’s valuation.
Ocampos to Merseyside in the summer?
Minamino struggled to find playing time this season and was loaned out to Southampton in January. He seems to have found a new lease of life under Ralph Hasssenhuttl, with 2 goals already in 3 matches.
The report mentions that Sevilla need to make a big sale in the summer due to financial reasons, and Ocampos is a sellable asset. But Liverpool might have to compete with Real Madrid, who are also interested in the winger.
Chelsea were also once interested in the Sevilla man during his time at River Plate. He has impressed for Sevilla in the La Liga this season. (h/t Daily Mail)
