In what will come as some good news for Liverpool, Virgil van Dijk and Joe Gomez have stepped up their recovery. The defensive duo will continue their rehabilitation from the club’s AXA training centre. (h/t Echo)
Van Dijk got injured in the Merseyside derby last year when Jordan Pickford’s reckless challenge led to his ACL rupture. Since then the towering defender has been on the road to recovery with regular updates. The Dutch international was petty much ruled out for the entirety of this season after the injury.
Joe Gomez, on the other hand, suffered a knee injury on international duty in November last year. While it was expected he would return this season, his post-surgery recovery will take a while and we may not see him until next season.
Van Dijk was in Dubai for his rehab but has returned to the club facilities last month to step up on his recovery. Gomez had been using the Kirby facility as he too aims to return to action for the first team.

Liverpool came close to signing Lyon defender Marcelo in the January transfer window
While both are stepping up their recovery, they are actually far from first-team action. However, this update from both the first-choice defenders will surely be good for the fans as well as Jurgen Klopp. The side has sorely missed them as the Reds have stumbled on so many occasions this season.
