Mino Raiola gives major Erling Haaland transfer update as Liverpool links refuse to fizzle out

Super agent Mino Raiola was talking to the BBC (h/t Liverpool Echo) and revealed that only four English clubs have the financial capability to fund a transfer for Erling Haaland.

There is no hiding that Haaland is one of the most sought-after strikers in world football. The Norwegian has scored 43 times for Borussia Dortmund since making the switch to Signal Iduna Park in January 2020.

And that has alerted clubs, with one of them being Liverpool. The Reds’ current No.9, Roberto Firmino, is experiencing a dry run. (h/t Transfermarkt)

The 29-year-old Brazilian has netted just 1 goal in his last 11 Premier League games. In light of that, Haaland, who is only 20, seems like a player who could give him some serious competition at Anfield.

For that though, the club would have to make a move for him. Haaland has a €75million release clause that becomes active in the summer of 2022.

Just four clubs in England?

Haaland’s agent, Raiola, says that there are just four clubs in England that can afford him.

“It’s obvious that only a maximum of 10 clubs can afford to buy him from Dortmund. We can all fill in those clubs and four of those clubs are in your beautiful country.”

Raiola also added that Haaland is a highly sought-after star in football, akin to Lewis Hamilton in F1.

“I think there’s not a sporting director or trainer in the world who’d say they wouldn’t be interested. It’s like saying: ‘Is there a Formula 1 team who would not be interested in having Lewis Hamilton?’

Talk about hyping up a player. But in Haaland’s case, the hype seems to be real. If Liverpool could sign him in the near future, it would be a great long-term coup by Jurgen Klopp and co.
