Manchester United ready to hijack Liverpool target Raphinha

According to TuttoMercatoWeb (h/t Daily Star), Manchester United are planning to hijack a move for Liverpool target Raphinha. The Leeds United man has been a revelation this season since arriving from Rennes at the start of the season.

The Brazilian winger came on to the Reds’ radar after his eye-catching performances for the Whites. He has produced 5 goals and assists each in the Premier League this season. However, as the report mentions, their rivals, Manchester United could look to move for the Leeds star themselves.

United are the latest club to have registered their interest in the tricky winger. While they have a decent attack, they are looking past this season and a potential Edinson Cavani departure.

Liverpool are actually looking at a squad overhaul given how badly things have gone this season. Six players are mooted to leave the club next season. Club legend Jamie Carragher has also spoken about Raphinha and how he would fit at the club.

“I was really impressed with him when I watched him at Leicester last weekend as well, not just by Raphinha, but Bamford as well. You see that shot there [before Bamford’s goal], that’s so typical of a wide man, that penetrating run that we talk about with Salah, Mane and [Raheem] Sterling, all the great wide players.

“They make that run and he does. He has great quality on the ball. I think we mentioned before the game that he’s been involved in seven goals in the last eight games, so he’s always a huge threat and that’s always telling when your team-mates know from one training session.”

The 24-year-old has done fantastically this season for Leeds and has been one of their chief threats. His eye for a pass, going for goal or just those tricks, flicks and dribbles, everything he has done, has managed to catch the eye. Liverpool will need to act fast and steal the march on their rivals if they want to sign Raphinha.
