Gary Neville thinks Liverpool ace Georginio Wijnaldum is the most underrated player in PL
In a Q&A on Twitter, former Manchester United defender Gary Neville has claimed that believes that Georginio Wijnaldum of Liverpool is the most underrated player in the Premier League. He also praised Sadio Mane and deemed him to be the most difficult for any right-back to deal with. (h/t ECHO)
Despite the situation regarding his contract, Wijnaldum has played a vital part for the Reds this season. He has been a constant presence in midfield with the likes of Jordan Henderson and Fabinho playing in defence. That has been the case due to all of the first-choice defenders being injured through large chunks of the season.
Talking about Wijnaldum’s importance to the side and consistency over the years, Neville labelled him as the most underrated player in the Premier League.
Even though he was in the final year of his Liverpool contract, manager Jurgen Klopp was all praises for him for his performances.
“I am pretty happy with Gini as you can see when you look at most of the line-ups. He played always good, that’s why he’s played the amount of games he has. I cannot remember a lot of bad games to be honest.
“He played for us in plenty of different positions and he is in a good moment thank God. Long may it continue. I don’t know how many games he’s played since I’ve been here, it’s good and there’s nothing else to say about it.”

The Manchester United icon also had some praise for Sadio Mane, deeming the Senegalese would be the toughest opponent if Neville were to play at right-back. He has often spoken about how quick wingers used to get the better of him during his playing days, mostly because he did not have much speed. Liverpool will be hoping that both these stars stay at the club especially Wijnaldum whose contract runs out at the end of the season.
