Jurgen Klopp gives honest take on top 4 hopes for Liverpool after Fulham embarrassment

Speaking after the game against Fulham (h/t Liverpool Echo), Jurgen Klopp said that he had bigger things to worry about than Liverpool making the top 4.

The Reds were handed an embarrassing 1-0 defeat to Fulham. After going 68 league games unbeaten at home, we have now lost 6 in a row at Anfield in the league.

And that slump has put a massive dent in the Reds’ top 4 hopes. It comes after they were beaten by fellow Champions League spot-contenders Chelsea last week.

And Klopp believes that the Reds have bigger issues than not making the top 4 now. Liverpool have scored just one goal at Anfield this year, which came against Manchester City in a 4-1 loss.

“You can imagine that it is not really my concern at the moment. You have to ask, I understand that, but I cannot think about that. We have to win football games. If we win one football game, that would be helpful! And then we would see the rest.”

Time to put it right

Klopp reacted to the 1-0 defeat to Thomas Tuchel’s Chelsea by making 7 changes to his Liverpool side. Even that didn’t work, as the Reds succumbed to a painful loss to relegation favourites Fulham.

It is evident that the German gaffer now has a very clear short-term aim; win the next game at home.

The Reds have been winless at home for a record duration and the team would hope to pick up three points against Wolves on 15th March.

Between then and now, Liverpool have a big UEFA Champions League encounter against RB Leipzig. The Reds lead the first leg by 2 goals to nil, and barring a disaster, we should qualify for the last-8.
