Real Madrid have major injury problems to take care of before Liverpool tie in the Champions League
A statement by Real Madrid’s official website (h/t Liverpool Echo) described the club’s latest training session on Wednesday and mentioned that 4 players missed it due to ‘continuing their recovery process’ from injury ahead of their tie against Liverpool.
“The players began with activation exercises without the ball and carried out fitness and possession work. They then focussed on pressing, passing and finishing in mini-goals. Finally, they played a timed small sided games. Carvajal, Hazard, Kroos and Valverde continue with their recovery processes.”
Los Galacticos are scheduled to take on the Reds in the quarter-final of the UEFA Champions League. The first leg is on Tuesday, and Madrid are in a situation where they can be without four first-team payers for it. (h/t Liverpool Echo)
Eden Hazard is set to miss both legs of the clash. The Belgian winger has had a series of injury problems this season and will not feature in his club’s last-8 encounter against Liverpool.
Injuries galore
Right-back Daniel Carvajal is also a major doubt for both legs due to a hamstring problem. As for Federico Valverde, his availability for the clash is ‘touch and go’.
While the 22-year-old Uruguayan midfielder recovers from his muscular problems, his partner in midfield, Toni Kroos, is also a doubt for the first leg on Tuesday in Madrid.
The former Bayern Munich midfielder withdrew from the German squad during the international break due to an abductor issue.
We will have a clearer picture of the injury situation as time goes on. And Real Madrid’s team selection against Eibar on the weekend could also give an insight into Zinedine Zidane’s injury problems with his squad.
