Transfer News: Arsenal to face competition from Liverpool if they want to sign Martin Odegaard from Real Madrid
A report by Spanish outlet AS (h/t Mirror) mentions that Martin Odegaard is tempted by the idea of joining Liverpool as the Real Madrid star continues to impress at Arsenal on loan.
The youngster joined the Gunners in January as a replacement for Mesut Ozil. And he has taken to the fanbase’s heart with his recent performances on the pitch.
But there is a cause for concern for them as it is said that the Norwegian attacking midfielder would be open to the idea of joining the Reds if they were to make a move. Arsenal themselves want to sign him at the end of this season. (h/t Mirror)
However, Mikel Arteta could see competition from the Premier League champions for the 22-year-old. He played the full 90 minutes against Liverpool in their 3-0 loss last weekend, where he also enjoyed a post full-time chat with Klopp.
A great option in midfield
As for his parent club, they want to raise funds in order to sign Erling Haaland. And Odegaard could be allowed to leave in that regard.
It is also not the first time that Odegaard has been tipped to join the Merseysiders. During his time in Norway as a 15-year-old, the emerging talent was tipped to join a host of big clubs in the future.
The former Stromsgodset midfielder mentioned that he wanted to join the Reds as he called them his dream club.
“Liverpool have always been my dream club.”

His current contract at Madrid runs out in two years but he is on the list of players that Madrid want to sell. If Liverpool beat Arsenal to his signature, then he could be a handy signing, especially in the possible event of Georginio Wijnaldum leaving in the summer.
